Proverbs 14:1 says, "Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands."
Proverbs 12:4 says, "A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones."
Women are a force to be reckoned with.
We do ALL. THE. THINGS. day in and day out. Even if you don't have children you're most likely always on-the-go with your career, hobbies and responsibilities.
What are we doing each day? What is our 'why'? What are we building?
One of my favorite verses says, "Where there is no vision, the people perish. (Proverbs 29:18)"
We can't simply stay busy without knowing where we are going lest we wake up one day and realize all of our hard work got us nowhere close to where we wanted to be. We must build with a purpose, friends! What if a builder who was coming out to build you a house came to your doorstep with no blueprints or tools? It would be an outrage am I right? So we must have a clear direction for our lives in order to build with purpose!
I want to be a woman who builds. A woman who builds with a purpose and not just haphazardly without a real plan.
These verse above talk about being a woman who builds her house. She most likely didn't build it with her bare hands but we, as women, could totally do that if we needed too! #girlsrule
However, this verse is talking about a woman building her house in a different way. She was loving those people in her home with her whole heart. She was setting an example for them to follow. She was caring for them and putting their needs before her own. She was teaching them about Jesus. She was loving her husband and supporting him.
These are the ways I think about when I read that verse. She most likely did all the usual 'stuff' like chores and cooking and running errands but she built the foundation of her family. Family is 'home' and building those relationships means far more than building a brick and mortar structure.
It made me ask myself the following questions: Am I building or plucking down my house? Am I intentionally loving those within the four walls of my home? Or am I tearing them down by my words and actions? Do I create a space where they can thrive and feel safe? Or am I bringing negative emotions and mindsets to the table?
I want to build our home up with everything I have in me. I don't want to look up one day and realize that I have plucked down my home. I want to know that I have invested in it without reserve and have encouraged the three hearts that are in my home.
I want to build my business and blog and use it to bring glory to God. I want to build a successful business that continues to bring in income. I want to build a community of women who want to build. I want to build up other women.
I want to build up my kids and show them Jesus. I want to show them an imperfect mom who lives a life for Christ. I want to build them up and always strive to do what is best for them. I want to build on their experiences and education. I want to build up their confidence and take pride in their accomplishments.
I want to build up my husband and always be supportive of him. I want to love him fiercely and be quick to forgive him. I want to build upon our marriage and always strive to live out a 1 Corinthians 13 marriage. I want to build on his dreams and goals.
I want to build up my relationships with other extended friends and family. To be the person that will always be there even when it is inconvenient.
What about you? What would you fill in the blanks with? What are you building, friend?
