When I walked into our daughter's room to hang her clothes up in her closet a few days ago, I noticed that a little wanna-be Picasso had scribbled all over the wall. It was a masterpiece created with a thick Ticonderoga pencil.
It was evident that one of my two kids had done the deed. I had the evidence in front of me glaring in dark pencil but I didn’t know which kid was to blame. I had the facts in front of me but no face.
I’ve been reading in Matthew chapter 3 where John The Baptist is rebuking the Pharisees and Sadducees.
He says in verse 7-8, “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.”
He goes on to say that any tree without good fruit will be hewn down and cast into the fire.
It is a literal picture of our salvation. You see, there is a difference between knowing who Jesus is and really knowing Him personally.
The Pharisees knew about Jesus but they were trusting their physical descent from Abraham to save them.
Is there evidence scribbled on your life that you know Jesus? Are you trusting your good works, church attendance, or the fact that you come from a long line of Christians to get you to heaven?
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.
Trust Him, friend. Get to know Him personally. He wants to fellowship with you if you’ll only ask Him to save you. ☕️
