Spring Cleaning Physically + Spiritually

Happy Spring!

Although we are stuck at home, we can go outside and enjoy this beautiful weather! I hope you've been blessed with good weather in your part of the world.

I have also been enjoying deep cleaning my house for spring! There is something so refreshing about cleaning and deep cleaning my home. I am Type A and OCD, but it goes beyond that for me. It feels so good to know that you've dusted even the darkest and most hidden corners of your home. You've left nothing untouched.

The same goes for us spiritually though, doesn't it? We have those corners that we hide (or so we think) from God, yet He is always faithful to uncover those hard to reach places and use them to teach us more about Himself and His power. In Ephesians 5:8-17 we read about walking as children of light and having no fellowship with the "unfruitful works of darkness (verse 11)". The light of Christ in our hearts and lives brings clarity. He is the light.

Perhaps that is why I love cleaning so much. The physical act of cleaning gives me temporary joy, but spiritually allowing God to clean out the unkempt areas of my heart gives me life. A spiritual cleaning from God doesn't always feel wonderful... scratch that... it almost always is uncomfortable. However, it is necessary as His children to allow Him to correct us, teach us and show us the way which is Himself.

Maybe you need to allow Him to clean your heart out as there are drawers and corners that you've allowed to stay cluttered for fear of what He would think. God already knows our heart and exactly what we struggle with so don't let that fear keep you from handing it over to Him. It could be a sin you just can't seem to let go of that has a grip on you and holds you back. We all have those "things" that we simply have to guard ourselves against and give over to God.

God can deliver us from the temptations that we face, friend.

John 14:6 says, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me."

When you find yourself bored during this quarantine, print the graphic off above and get to Spring cleaning your space. Ask God to reveal parts of your heart that need Him or you may already know which corners of your heart need a good cleaning.

As you mull this over in your mind, I hope you know that I am always praying for you and would love to connect with you. There is always a coffee cup with your name on it here, friend!
