Dear girl who explains (and over explains most of the time) herself,
You don’t have to explain your reason for everything because you’re scared people will think badly of you. Some people say that habit is a sign of past trauma and I think that’s true. You always had to explain yourself and now you feel as if everyone deserves an explanation. But they don’t. You’re capable of making wise choices as an adult.
If I could, I would look you in the eyes and tell you this over coffee in a quaint coffee shop. You. Don’t. Owe. Anyone. An. Explanation. You don’t, friend.
Just the other day someone complimented my nails and I went into why I got them done again after years of plain nails. I didn’t need to explain myself but it’s hard for me to do things for myself without feeling guilty so therefore, I over-explained. Again. And it’s just nails people. N A I L S but I explained my motive.
We live to please God and not man.
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
Do you remember when Jesus called His disciples? People thought they were crazy for leaving everything they knew to follow Jesus. People will always think you’re peculiar especially if you’re following Christ closely as we all should be. #truthhurts
Make God pleasing decisions and be confident in them, friend. Don’t explain all of your decisions or motives. There will always be people in the audience who doubt you and mock you, but that’s their problem... not yours. God gives us wisdom if only we ask Him to.
