Toddler Closet Makeover

*Disclaimer: This blog post is not sponsored in any way. These are simply direct links to products that I love.*

When we moved into our house over a year ago, our daughters room had those pesky folding closet doors that were perfect for pinching small fingers. Honestly, I had the same closet doors as a child and I was so scared of them. They always pinched my fingers. I decided they had to go, even though my husband was not as excited to remove them, because they were an ER visit waiting to happen.

So my patient, loving, wonderful husband removed the closet doors and I was one happy mama! That is the only structural difference we made to the closet. The shelf pictured was already there. We did add the crate bookshelves that are pictures hanging on the wall.

How to make the crate bookshelves:

We originally bought one medium sized wooden crate from Walmart, cut it in half to make two shelves, painted them white and then mounted them to the wall. If you don't want to do the extra work, Hobby Lobby has pre-cut wood crate shelves here that just need a coat of paint (if you like)! You can get the hardware to hang the crates here. If you like to paint and want to paint the crates here is the paint I used. It was a cheap, easy and really fun project!

We call this area of her room her "Craft and Book Nook". She sits at her table to read, color and play with her favorite Melissa and Doug Princess Castle! Our family really loves Melissa and Doug Toys. They are a bit more expensive than other mainstream toys, but they are wooden and last for years.

Now for a breakdown of all the items pictured including their price and where I bought them.

Pink Bins: Dollar Tree $1 each.

The quilts were handmade for Emmeline by two of her Great-Grandmothers. I love incorporating sweet items like that into my decor.

Heart Banner: Target Dollar Spot $3

Square pink picture frame is a picture my late-Grandmother colored. She passed away right before Emmeline's first birthday.

Heart Wall Hanging: Target Dollar Spot $5 (I purchased it last year but I have seen more this year)

Brown Wall Hanging: Handmade by my talented aunt

Craft Paper Tablet: This was a gift. Melissa and Doug has a similar one though here.

Metal Tin for crayons: Dollar Tree $1

Craft Table: Virco Brand but they are sold out right now. Here is a similar option.

Rug: Hobby Lobby

This was such a fun project! She loves the space and so do I!
