What Christmas Means To Us

Luke 2:11 "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

Christmas is so important to our family as we celebrate the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ! The season is focused on Christ in our home as He is the true reason for celebration. Jesus came to earth as a baby born in a manger who grew up to die on a cross to save us from our sins. What a wonderful Saviour!

Christmas is even more fun for me and my husband as we have two small children to celebrate with!

I thought it would be fun to tell you the Christmas traditions we have and hear about your fun traditions!

A few of our traditions include buying matching Christmas pajamas, watching Christmas movies, looking at Christmas lights, making Christmas cookies, listening to Christmas music, and of course, reading about the birth of Jesus Christ in our bibles. Although we don't take the traditional route of hyping up Santa Claus, we have a whole lot of fun going through the toy catalog with our toddler as she picks out toys she would love to have! This year we decided that we would start taking a family Christmas photo so we can see how much our family changes over the years. I typically handle all the Christmas shopping for our family and extended families while Mason takes care of my Christmas presents. I let Emmeline pick out a special present for Walker and can't wait until he is old enough to pick out presents for her!

We decided to put our Christmas tree up well before Thanksgiving so we could enjoy it for a month and a half before it goes back in the garage. Last year, we had just moved into our new home so we were only able to enjoy our Christmas tree for a few weeks before it had to come down. We made up for lost time this year!

My wonderful husband did all the outdoor decorating and did a fabulous job! He is the landscaper and I am the interior decorator! We are both Christmas obsessed!

I am normally not one to procrastinate... but this year I am dragging my feet when it comes to Christmas shopping. If I am being honest, I'm still not done shopping and Christmas is next week. For some reason, Christmas shopping is so overwhelming to me... I think it is because wrapping presents is definitely not one of my strong-suits! ;)

Mason and I both have large extended families so we spend a lot of time at family gatherings on Christmas Eve and part of Christmas Day. I love spending time with our families! We eat a whole lot, open gifts and take lots of pictures. My most favorite part of Christmas is waking up in our home and enjoying Christmas morning with our babies. We wake up really early and spend the morning opening gifts in our pajamas. Pure bliss!

A few more of our 2018 Christmas pictures taken by my incredibly talented husband.... We were freezing if you can't tell! It was nearly 60 degrees that day but right around the time we started taking the pictures it got really chilly! South Carolina weather is crazy!

Merry Christmas my friend! I hope you have a blessed holiday season and a happy new year!

What about you family? Do you have unique Christmas traditions? I would love to know how your family celebrates Christmas!
